Susan makes Lampwork Art Glass beads in her home studio by melting rods of glass in a dual filter torch flame and then shaping the glass around a mandrel. A bead shape is then formed. Colours, details and further shaping are worked until the bead is complete. It is then placed in a kiln for several hours to anneal which removes any weakness from the glass. Each bead is cleaned and inspected before being used to create beautiful jewellery or before being offered for sale.
